ATP SCENERY NOTES FROM GUNNAR GRAFF (Norway)

Here are the instructions of replacement of ATP's default USA-scenery with any other scenery the PC-pilot wants to have as his/hers default-scenery.

1. The default US scenery files in normal ATP and the ATP demos are named:
F1.
F1.SP1
F1.SP2
F1.SP3
These files has to be either renamed (f.inst USA.*), moved away to an other subdirectory just for storing, or deleting.

2. The scenery you want to be your defalut scenery in ATP has to be renamed-All scenery files in ATP (except the main scenery file in the default scenery) have the following suffixes:
- *.SCN
- *.SP1
- *.SP2
- *.SP3
Some sceneries also has a 5.th file (f.inst USA(EAST/WEST), called
- *.SPG

These scenery files have to be renamed
F1 (NB! No suffix here!)
F1.SP1
F1.SP2
F1.SP3
and if the scenery has the fifth file *.SPG, this is to be renamed
F1.SPG

All these new renamed scenery files MUST be put into the \ATP-directory.

REMEMBER. For easy startup of ATP, make a MODE for an airport/airfield in the new default scenery.

Here is a list of all valid sceneries in existence for ATP (so far as I know). I have tried to put them in chornological order.

Some of other old sceneries, as the SD1-SD12 covering most part of USA for Fs3/Fs4 are not in the list. They are still able to be used with ATP, bur are replaced by the much better USA(E/W). The California scenery made in 93/94 and released just before USA (E/W) is covered at least as good in USA(West).

The old European scenery, covering parts of England, Paris-area and parts of southern Germany are not on the list. This scenery is now replaced by better sceneries, except France. This scenery has been the background-scenery for many homemade european SC1-sceneries for Fs4. It is still able to use.

Japan - SD-JPN (the first with ILS). Made by subLOGIC for Fs3/Fs4

Hawaii - SD-HAW (NB: It is possible to fly from Japan to USA via Hawaii with these old sceneries)

USA (default scenery in ATP) called F1.* This file is later made much better in USA(E/W) and can easily be replaced by one of the new USA-sceneries, as default in ATP.

Great Britain (England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland) GB1, GB2, GB3. This is the oldest of the "new" ATP-sceneries from subLOGIC. It is used as background-scenery for several newer ATP-sceneries, like GERMANY (1996) and the "homemade" LONDON, IRELAND, CHANNEL-ISLANDS and BALEARIC ISLANDS (1995-96).

Italy (1995) by LAGO (an italian firm also producing 3DAGS). This scenery uses the new USA(E/W) coordinates and are not compatible with GB1-GB3-files and sceneries using their coordination-system.

USA (EAST/WEST) 1993/94 (?) subLOGIC These files exist in two versions. On the Rev.B diskettes made for Flight Light/Flight Light Plus in 1994/95, there is also East/West scenery for ATP. It is unknown if these files are revised from the original East/West release. East/West uses an improved coordination-system to the default scenery USA in ATP. Therefore many modes made for default scenery will place the aircraft outside the runway when USA(E/W) are used.

Switzerland (1995). Uses the same coordinat-system as Italy. If Swiss and Italy-scenery is to be installed together, Swiss scenery has to be installed first.

Germany (October 1996). Uses the same coordination-system as GB1-BG3 and is therefore not compatible with Italy and Swiss-sceneries.

There are two recent updates to USA(E/W), one for USA West that adds the new Denver Colorado international airport. The second one extends USA East to cover parts of southeastern Canada.
