1.) If you have installed AS from scratch ( I mean *NOT* using the AS2ATP
migration utility ):
Copy all the patch files in your main AS directory ( C:\AIRSIM if you accepted the default installation one ); then, from your AS directory, type: PATCH and press <ENTER>
In this case the patch utility will correct the default scenery ( named F1 ).
2.) If you used AS2ATP to migrate AS files to an existing ATP directory:
Copy all the patch files in your main ATP directory ( C:\ATP if you accepted the default installation one ); then, from your ATP directory, type: PATCH and press <ENTER>
In this case the patch utility will correct the EUROPE.SCN scenery (located in the SCENERY directory inside the ATP directory ).
The patch program will update AS files, to version 1.1 and will remove itself at the end ( except ASPATCH1.DOC and AS2ATP.EXE ). If you have different configurations - meaning you have manually moved files between AS and ATP - please re-install AS from the CD in a new directory and apply the patch there.

PROBLEMS FIXED SINCE VERSION 1.0
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
- Some taxiways were misaligned - now grass between the concrete should not appear anymore.
- VIE ( Vienna ) airport is now at the correct altitude, 600 ft.
- Runway 28 at CDG ( Paris ) is now correctly depicted as 28 instead of 28R.
- Frankfurt VOR ( FFM, 110.95 on the map ) is now replaced by a VOR/DME at 114,2 with the same identifier ( FFM ).
- Salzburg ATIS is correctly tunable at 125,7 ( Real world frequency is 125,72, not tunable on AS radio ).
- All the ILSs have a greater range of reception.
- Corrected magnetic variation on the ILS for compatibility with auto-land.
- Innsbruck localizer OEJ now doesn't have the glide, like in reality. Also, OEV have a glideslope of 4 degrees. It's not reperted on maps, but it's present in reality.
- Added the ILS at Vienna airport for runway 29. Frequency is: 109.7, direction 294 degrees, ID is OEX.
- YQX ( Gander ) runways now have an illumination system.
- The Boeing 747/400 now has the wingtip lights correctly placed.
- The Elbe river now correctly runs north of Finkenwerder airport.
- The default startup mode now includes the crash test.
- The SMS/FMC databases contain data also for ILS in the NATL scenery.
- All TACAN have a reduced range from 130 nm to ca. 50 nm. This to prevent any interferences between them ( not used for civilian navigation ) and regular VORs on the same frequency. An example of this problem could have been found between LWWD ( a TACAN in Netherlands ) and ALS ( a VOR in Denmark ).
- The SMS database now depicts more precisely different VOR classes.
- Career assignments now don't exceed the Maximum Zero Fuel Weight anymore.
- When using other ATP planes with 3DAGS cockpits, the navaids symbols are now correctly shown on the navigation display.
- It is now possible to use the SMS also if you are using AS under MS-DOS version 5.
- On the engine cockpit of the Boeing 747/400 the EPR indicators will now remain within the instrument when you finish the carburant ( but you had other problems to solve in this case... ).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
AS2ATP
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Included within the patch file you will find a revised version of the migration utility that allows you to install AS into an existing ATP directory. Previous version of AS2ATP migrate AS files only to ATP revision D directories: after many customer requests AS2ATP is now able to migrate to any ATP revision.
***********************************************************************
ATTENTION: if you have modified ATP using ATPUTILS, you'll lose ALL your modifications while doing the upgrade!
***********************************************************************
AS2ATP now runs from every directory and it detects your CD letter automatically. You will need to insert the AS CD *before* starting AS2ATP. When you use AS2ATP, the program will create a backup of your existing
ATP environment in the OLDATP subdirectory ( under your main AS directory ). To switch between different environments, use the CAREER utility provided with AS.
Example:
CAREER EURO to set the European only ATC system
CAREER NATL to set the European/North Atlantic ATC system
CAREER OLDATP to set the same ATC that was active befor using AS2ATP ( probably USA )
Note for "Scenery Italy for ATP" users:
---------------------------------------
The CAREER.COM utility provided with Scenery Italy is outdated. We strongly suggest to use the new one provided with AS. If you install Scenery Italy after AS, please *manually* copy the CAREER.COM file, found in the \AS directory on the AS CD-ROM, after having completed the installation of Scenery Italy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
APPROACH CHARTS
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Included with the patch you will find a new set of approach charts. Charts are now supplied in .IAP format that will enable you to print them with with George Lorsche's Final Approach ( you can find the shareware version of Final Approach in the SIMGAMES and Flight Simulation Forums on Compuserve and in several web sites on the Internet - try at www.microwings.com ).
The new charts contain all the correct frequencies as needed by AS, since some changes had to be made given the limitation of the original ATP program in available radio channels. If you print them using Final Approach the print quality will also be much better - only depending on the quality of your printer.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION - so please read them :)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
- Be very careful when tuning ILS, expecially in the UK. Many of them ( London Heathrow just to give you the most obvious example ) uses the same frequency for both directions. *Always* check your FMC to see if an ILS need to be tuned using "Left", "Right" or "Reciprocal" ILS Preference.
- Use ATPUTIL to check your route before departure. This utility is also very useful when you need to calculate fuel quantity.
- If you are in doubt about a frequency during a flight, check the generic "Flight Service" ( contact them on frequency 122,20 ): they will give you the all the needed information about frequencies.
- You can find the ICAO 4 letter codes to be used in the FMC computer using the SMS ( Press F7 and then '9' ). We have also included the 3 letter ( IATA ) code, useful when using ATPUTIL. Remember that not all airports have both codes.
- If you are going to use the B747-400 Trip Planning Sheet included in the manual you will also need to know runway lengths. You can obtain this information using SMS. Please note that runway lengths obtained by SMS are expressed in feet. Here follows a table showing different runway lenghts ( expressed either in meters and in feet ) :
Runway length required for TO / LDG vs TOW
Weight ____ASDA____ ____TODA____ ____LDA_____

How to use AS together with subLOGIC's USA East/West sceneries:
The North American part of AS lies in the same coordinate systems as the European Scenery. This permits the seamless transition between the default AS Europe ( named F1 ) and the North Atlantic Scenery ( NATL.SCN ). To change automatically from Europe and NATL scenery set simply activate the "Autoload" feature present in AS.
To activate the "Autoload" press ALT+L and when the Scenery Library menu appears, choose the option labeled with A ( simply press 'A' ). Then you can start your assignment. You most notice that that it is *NOT* possible to fly directly from Europe to an USA East/West airport: you have have to fly to Boston - or New York - and then manually change the scenery. To manually change the scenery position the airplane on the same location ( Boston or New York ) using the USA East/West coordinates and then continue your flight from there to a different US location.
The provided CAREER.COM utility will help you in this, since it is not enough simply to load the US scenery: some crucial files infact were altered in order to make possible to fly long range flights with AS. CAREER.COM will properly restores *all* the files needed for a correct navigation in the USA East/West sceneries.
To switch from AS scenery system to USA East/West: Migrate AS in an existing ATP directory using AS2ATP. Now you will have Europe available on request by loading EUROPE.SCN and your previous configuration ( most probably US, but it could be also Italy or Swiss ) inside a newly created directory named OLDATP ( and located under you ATP directory ).
1) Load EUROPE.SCN and activate the AutoLoad (ALT+L then A).
2) Make your transatlantic flight to Boston or New York.
3) Exit to the DOS prompt (CTRL+BREAK then 2), type CAREER OLDATP and press <ENTER>
4) If you had the American ATC, it should now be restored.
5) Launch AS.
6) Position yourself at Boston or New York again using the normal ATP menu.
7) Start the next leg from there as usual.
8) When you want to switch to Europe again, return to DOS, type: CAREER EURO and press <ENTER>
